The Happiness Project is a peer-led community where people explore mental health thoughts and feelings — openly, honestly, and without judgement. Supported by others who truly understand because they've been there too.
"We don't have to do this alone — and we were never meant to." — Our guiding belief
Mental health is a human experience. The Happiness Project creates genuine, judgement-free spaces where your story is heard, your feelings are valid, and community support meets you where you are — regionally and online.
Your journey with us
No referrals, no waiting lists, no clinical jargon. Just genuine human connection at your own pace.
Sign up online or simply turn up to any session. No commitment required — you're welcome to listen, observe, or participate at whatever level feels right for you.
Join an in-person catch-up in your region or hop on a Zoom session from your lounge room. Both options run regularly and offer the same warm, supported environment.
Over time, many members shift from seeking support to offering it — sharing their lived experience to help others navigate the same paths they once walked.
Ways to connect
Whether you prefer the warmth of face-to-face or the comfort of your own home, we have a place for you.
Regional gatherings held in welcoming, accessible venues across the community. Sit together, share a cup of tea, and talk — or just listen. Real connection in real spaces.
Join from anywhere — your home, your car, a quiet corner. Our Zoom catch-ups bring the same warmth and community to your screen, camera on or off, your choice.
What we stand for
These aren't words on a wall. They're the lived principles our community is built around, every single session.
What's shared in the group stays in the group. We create a container where vulnerability is honoured and confidentiality is non-negotiable.
Our facilitators aren't clinicians reading from a textbook — they're people who've navigated their own mental health journeys and chosen to walk alongside others.
Every feeling is valid. Every story is worthy. We listen to understand, not to fix — and we never tell someone how they should feel.
We grow together. The support flows both ways — today's newcomer is tomorrow's mentor, and that cycle of giving is what makes our community thrive.
Community voices
Walking into my first session, I was terrified. Within twenty minutes I realised these people truly got it. I didn't have to explain myself — they already understood.
The online sessions were a lifeline when I couldn't leave the house. Knowing I could just turn off my camera on a hard day and still feel part of something — that meant everything.
I came for support and ended up becoming a facilitator. Sharing my story to help someone else is the most meaningful thing I've ever done. This community gave me that purpose.
